Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips or melting wafers
- 1 tbsp coarse sparkling sugar (for decoration)
- 1 tbsp white or blue sprinkles (optional, for a winter look)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and combined.
- Whisk in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop cookie dough into 2-tablespoon balls and place them 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and centers are still soft.
- Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Melt white chocolate chips or wafers in the microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each. Drizzle over cooled cookies and sprinkle with sparkling sugar and optional sprinkles.
- Allow drizzle to set before serving or storing.
Notes
- Do not overbake — cookies continue to set as they cool.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes if you prefer thicker cookies.
- Add crushed peppermint candy for a festive twist.
