Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers are still soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
