Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers are still soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Do not overbake for soft, chewy cookies.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes enhances flavor.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar for a snowy winter look.
