Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb (for shepherd’s pie)
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 sheet puff pastry (for pumpkin pasties)
- 1 cup mashed pumpkin or butternut squash
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- For Shepherd’s Pie: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat olive oil in a skillet, then add onion and carrots; cook until softened. Add ground beef, cooking until browned. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth; simmer until slightly thickened. Add peas, season with salt and pepper, and spoon mixture into a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes and bake for 25 minutes, until golden brown.
- For Pumpkin Pasties: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, mix mashed pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cheddar cheese. Roll out puff pastry and cut into circles. Spoon a small amount of filling into each circle, fold over, and crimp the edges. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve both dishes warm for a true Hogwarts feast.
