Description

This Salted Honey Pie is a silky, custard-like dessert that combines the sweetness of honey with a touch of salt for perfect balance. With a buttery, flaky crust and golden caramelized top, it’s a simple yet elegant pie that shines with warm, comforting flavor — perfect for holidays or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust, homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Flaky sea salt, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, trim edges, and crimp as desired. Chill the crust for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, honey, sugar, cornmeal, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  4. Whisk in heavy cream, vinegar (or lemon juice), and vanilla until fully combined and smooth.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still jiggles slightly.
  7. Allow the pie to cool completely to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  8. Before serving, sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.
  9. Slice and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use high-quality honey for the best flavor — wildflower or clover honey work beautifully.
  • To prevent over-browning, cover the crust edges with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
  • Pairs perfectly with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
