Description
These Lemon Feta Fries are a zesty Mediterranean twist on classic fries — crispy golden potatoes tossed with crumbled feta, fresh lemon juice, and fragrant herbs. They’re tangy, salty, and perfectly refreshing — an addictive side dish or snack that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, gyros, or burgers.
Ingredients
- 2 large russet potatoes (or 1 lb frozen French fries)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or dill)
- Optional: 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes for heat
- Optional: Tzatziki sauce or garlic aioli for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- If using fresh potatoes, cut into fries about 1/4-inch thick. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then pat dry thoroughly.
- Toss fries with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano until evenly coated.
- Spread fries in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. (If using frozen fries, bake according to package directions.)
- Remove from oven and immediately toss with lemon zest, lemon juice, and crumbled feta cheese.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley and optional red pepper flakes for a little heat.
- Serve hot with tzatziki, garlic sauce, or ketchup on the side.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, air fry the fries at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes.
- Use seasoned Greek feta for a bolder flavor.
- Pair these fries with grilled chicken souvlaki, lamb burgers, or falafel for a full Mediterranean meal.
- If you prefer, drizzle lightly with honey for a sweet-salty contrast.
