Crispy golden fried shrimp coated in a sweet-spicy hot honey glaze for the perfect appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 12 tbsp hot sauce (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove shrimp from buttermilk, shaking off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate.
  6. In a small saucepan, melt butter with honey and hot sauce, stirring until smooth.
  7. Toss fried shrimp in the hot honey glaze or drizzle on top before serving.

Notes
