Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cheesecake layer)
  • 1 large egg (for cheesecake layer)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cheesecake layer)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter and whisk with sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan, reserving a few tablespoons.
  7. Spoon cheesecake mixture evenly over the brownie layer.
  8. Dollop reserved brownie batter on top and swirl gently with a knife.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes until set but still slightly fudgy in the center.
  10. Cool completely before slicing.
