Description

A hearty and indulgent dish featuring tender, juicy steak served over fluffy rice coated in creamy queso sauce, delivering bold, comforting flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin or flank steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 cup queso cheese sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Season the steak evenly with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cumin.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak for 4–5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
  3. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in queso sauce and heavy cream until smooth.
  5. Add shredded cheddar cheese and stir until fully melted and creamy.
  6. Fold the cooked rice into the queso mixture until evenly coated.
  7. Serve the creamy queso rice topped with sliced steak.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • Letting the steak rest keeps it juicy.
  • You can use brown rice for added fiber.
  • Add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
