Description

A decadent Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake made with buttery croissants, rich chocolate, and a creamy custard base — baked to golden perfection for a luxurious breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants (preferably day-old), cut into large chunks
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Chocolate sauce or caramel (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange croissant chunks evenly in the baking dish, layering with chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing them down gently to soak up the liquid.
  5. Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the croissants to absorb the custard.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with chocolate sauce or caramel before serving.

Notes

  • Best made with day-old croissants for better texture.
  • For a festive touch, add orange zest or a splash of liqueur (like Baileys or Grand Marnier) to the custard.
  • You can assemble the bake the night before and refrigerate overnight — just bake in the morning.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a dessert-style version.
