Description

Soft, chewy cookies flavored with warm cinnamon and sweetened naturally with maple syrup for a cozy, fall-inspired treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  6. Mix the granulated sugar and additional cinnamon in a small bowl for rolling.
  7. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat each one in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place the dough balls on baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 9–11 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 20–30 minutes if you want thicker cookies.
  • Use dark maple syrup for a stronger maple flavor.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra warmth.
