Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese (or American cheese)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 8 pickle slices
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting buns)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
- Butter the inside of buns and toast until golden brown.
- Assemble burgers: spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on buns, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and cheeseburger patty.
- Serve hot with fries or chips on the side.

- For extra flavor, caramelize onions before adding to the burger.
